King Kong, Skull Island

Skull Island is a scene of “King Kong”…where Beauty meets the Beast…

" Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson takes on the tale of the massive -- and misunderstood ape (King Kong) discovered on a far away Skull Island and brought back to the big city.

Unfortunately, what Carl neglects to mention is that he is dragging cast and crew off to shoot on the aptly named Skull Island. It's when the party arrives there that the movie finally surges into a big fun popcorn adventure.

King Kong, Skull IslandSkull Island, you see, is not only populated with homicidal, decidedly inhospitable natives. (It needs to be said: There's a faint stench of racism in their dark skin and general ooga-booga quality.) Also residing there are creepy critters of so many stripes you half expect the title character of Anaconda to come slithering out; even dinosaurs are roaming the skull island. You might think the opportunistic Carl would be hot to drag a few of them back to New York -- aren't they sort of beyond endangered or something? -- but no, it's the loping, lonely Kongster that has Carl seeing dollar signs. The filmmaker's target, meanwhile, only has eyes for the comely, chemise-clad Ann. (Does anyone really like vaudeville that much?) "
