Lalaria Beach in GreeceWith the geographic location of Greece, and the fact that it is surrounded by over 12,000km of coastline, you can be sure that you will be able to find a huge selection of beautiful beaches spread out all over Greece and the Greek Islands.

Beaches in Greece and the Greek Islands The variety of beaches that be found around Greece is immense. There are stunning sandy beaches with crystal fresh blue waters, beaches with white pebbles, beaches with forest and pine trees leading all the way down to them, and so much more.

There are also private beaches that operate all over Greece, and these beaches are accessible for a small fee. Most of these private beaches have snack bars and cafes, as well as changing facilities, showers and toilets.

Other private beaches operate pool slides as well as other fun activities, which can keep both children and adults occupied for hours.

Greece and the Greek islands are the perfect holiday destination for lovers of the sea and beaches. All of the beaches that you can find around Greece all offer their own unique piece of summer magic as well as natural beauty.

It is not uncommon to find a small secluded hamlet somewhere, and have your own "private beach" for the day.

Ikaria Island in GreeceIt is quite difficult to come up with a definitive list of the top beaches in Greece, as it would really depend on the type of beach that an individual is looking for. Some beaches are full of people and families having fun. Others are very quiet and peaceful. However, below is a small selection of some of the beaches around Greece that have been noted by many as being "amongst the best" in Greece.

Naxos Island - Cyclades Islands - Plaka Beach

The island of Naxos is home to some of the most glorious beaches in the Cyclades. On Naxos, you can find very long stretches of sandy beaches, which are very clean along the island. Plaka beach is a beautiful three-mile stretch of shoreline, which is actually undeveloped, and seemingly deserted. It is an ideal place to enjoy the beach and sea, away from more busy and noisier beaches on the island.

Hios Island - North East Aegean Islands - Vroulidia Beach

Situated to the south of Hios (Chios) Island, is the small but beautiful Vroulidia beach. Skiathos Island - The Sporades Islands - Lalaria Beach

One of the main reasons why this beach is so beautiful is that it is not as easy to reach as other popular beaches on the island. If you have the patience to make your way down to the beach, you will surely be rewarded once you set down to enjoy the summer sun and sea.

Mikro - Pelion Peninsula, Central Greece - Mikro Beach

Hot Beaches in Mexico!

Snorkeling in Cancun MexicoCancún: Mexico's best beaches are in Cancún and along the Yucatán's Quintana Roo coast, extending south almost all the way to the Belizean border.

The powdery, white-sand beaches boast water the color of a Technicolor dream; it's so clear you can see through to the coral reefs below.

Cancún offers the widest assortment of luxury beachfront hotels, with more restaurants, nightlife, and activities than any other resort destination in the country.

Isla Mujeres: There's only one small beach here -- Playa Norte -- but it's superb.

From this island, you can dive El Garrafón reef, snorkel offshore, and take a boat excursion to the Isla Contoy national wildlife reserve, which features great birding and a fabulous, uninhabited beach.

Playa del Carmen: "Playa" is Mexico's hip beach destination with a dash of third-world chic. Above all, it's easy and low key.

Laya Zicatela Puerto Escondido MexicoYou walk to the beach, you walk back to the hotel, you walk to one of the many good restaurants. Next day, you repeat. The beaches are white sand; the water is clear blue and perfect for swimming.

If you feel the urge to be active, not far away are ancient Maya ruins, Cozumel, and the mega-resort of Cancún, offering all the variety that you might want in a beach vacation.

La Paz: This state capital borders a lovely beach, dotted with colorful playgrounds and lively open-air restaurants.

Take a cue from the local residents, though, and pass on swimming here in favor of the exquisite beaches just minutes from downtown.

La Paz's beaches and the islets just offshore have transformed this tranquil town into a center for diving, sea kayaking, and other adventure pursuits.

Los Cabos: Dramatic rock formations and crashing waves mix with wide stretches of soft sand and a rolling break.

Playa del Carmen MexicoStart at Pueblo la Playa, just north of San José del Cabo, and work your way down the Cabo Corridor to the famed Playa de Amor at Land's End.

Some beaches are more appropriate for contemplation than for swimming, which isn't all bad.

Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo
: These side-by-side resorts offer beach-goers the best of both worlds: serene simplicity and resort comforts.

For those in search of a back-to-basics beach, the best and most beautiful is Playa La Ropa, close to Zihuatanejo.

The wide beach at Playa Las Gatas, with its restaurants and snorkeling sites, is also a great place to play. The luxury hotels in Ixtapa, on the next bay over from Zihuatanejo, front Playa Palmar, a fine, wide swath of beach.

Puerto Escondido: The best overall beach value in Mexico is principally known for its world-class surfing beach, Playa Zicatela.

Isla Mujeres MexicoThe surrounding beaches all have their own appeal; colorful fishing pangas dot the central town beach, parked under the shade of palms leaning so far over they almost touch the ground.

Puerto Escondido offers unique accommodations at excellent prices, with exceptional budget dining and nightlife.

Puerto Vallarta: Spectacularly wide Banderas Bay offers in excess of 25 miles of beaches.

Some, like Playa Los Muertos -- the popular public beach in town -- abound with palapa restaurants, beach volleyball, and parasailing.

The beaches of Punta Mita, the exclusive development north of Vallarta, are of the white-sand variety, with crystalline waters and coral reefs just offshore. Others around the bay nestle in coves, accessible only by boat.

Puerto Vallarta is the only place where authentic colonial ambience mixes with true resort amenities.
